Facial Wounds

One my young mares had a bad accident one morning. I take it she must have been playing and cut open face.When I found her the wound was still raw and I immediately closed the wound and held the skin back in position for 2 minuers. I had remembered that one of my children had a similar wound way back and that this advice was then given to me. I was also told that I had to cover the wound with the inside film of an egg. The egg white is anti-septic and as it dries it closes the wound without leaving a bad scar. Obviously I couldn't find a big enough egg anywhere, but I took a piece of cottonwool soaked in egg white and secured it over the wound. I also gave her a dosis of anti-biotics and thirteen days later the cotton came off leaving behind a recovered face.

The reason that we sometimes have to resort to similar cures is because we live out of town and there are not always doctors or vets available.
